By train

Fano sits on the Bologna–Ancona line. From Bologna Centrale it's a direct regional or one change at Pesaro — sit on the left for the sea.

By car

The villa is ten minutes inland from Fano on quiet hill roads. Parking at the estate is free. An automatic hire car is worth specifying — Italian hills, Italian hire fleets.

    Bigger town, more hotel choice, twenty minutes up the coast. Rossini's birthplace — the gelato is taken seriously.

April in Le Marche: mostly 14–19°C and bright, with a chance of a theatrical spring shower. Bring a wrap or jacket for the evening — the Orangerie is warm, the courtyard less so at midnight.
